Position Summary

The Grants Manager will serve as a strategic fundraiser, accomplished writer, and compliance leader, managing and growing institutional support across both Galvanize USA and Galvanize Action. This role requires expertise in securing funding from large foundations, private funders, corporate sponsors, and major donors, while navigating the nuances of c3 and c4 fundraising.

The Grants Manager provides leadership in institutional fundraising, oversees the implementation and execution of grant strategies, and collaborates with colleagues across programs, finance, and legal to ensure alignment. The Grants Manager will oversee consultants supporting institutional fundraising during peak seasons when additional grant writing support is necessary.

Responsibilities and Tasks 

  • Grant & Proposal Strategy
    •  Implement a comprehensive grant-focused strategy across Galvanize USA (c3) and Galvanize Action (c4) under the guidance and supervision of the Director of Institutional Development. 
    • Manage a multi-million-dollar institutional and corporate funding pipeline.
    • Collaborate with the Director of Institutional Development to establish, track, and report progress toward annual institutional revenue targets.
  • Proposal Development & Donor Engagement
    • Write persuasive proposals, concept papers, and reports for foundations, corporate partners, and major donors.
    • Oversee the quality and consistency of all institutional proposals and reports.
    • Collaborate with development colleagues on major gift proposals, ensuring alignment between institutional and individual giving.
    • Participate in select donor and funder cultivation meetings.
  • Compliance, Reporting & Stewardship
    • Ensure all fundraising activities adhere to c3 and c4 compliance requirements, with clear distinctions in budgets, narratives, and deliverables.
    • Manage reporting processes, ensuring accurate, timely, and compelling communication of outcomes and impact to funders.
    • Serve as a trusted steward to institutional partners through transparent communication and accountability.
  • Collaboration & Systems Leadership
    • Partner cross-functionally with program, finance, and legal teams to align narratives, budgets, and outcomes.
    • Strengthen and innovate grants processes and systems to support organizational growth and efficiency.
    • Use Asana to track workflows and deadlines, EveryAction for grant management, and Google Suite for collaboration and reporting.
  • Miscellaneous 
    • All employees of Hopewell Fund are required to complete timesheets every two weeks
    • Perform other duties as needed
       

Required Qualifications
 

  • 5–7 years of experience in institutional fundraising and grant writing.
  • Proven success in securing support from large, dynamic foundations, sophisticated private funders, and corporate sponsors.
  • Expertise in developing proposals that align with organizational needs. 
  • Strong knowledge of compliance and nuance in c3 vs. c4 fundraising.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and project management skills.
  • Proficiency with Asana, EveryAction, and Google Suite.
  • Strategic visionary: Able to design and execute forward-looking institutional funding strategies.
  • Leads with clarity, supports staff development, and fosters collaboration.
  • Builder mentality: Thrives in entrepreneurial, scaling environments with high expectations.
  • Systems innovator: Strengthens and streamlines processes to support long-term growth.
  • Compliance-savvy: Understands and navigates the complexities of c3 vs. c4 fundraising.

  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the US. We are not able to sponsor visas at this time.
  • Ability to travel as needed (typically, 2-4 times/year)

  • Familiarity with additional CRM and grants management platforms.
  • Knowledge of philanthropy, advocacy, and democracy-focused funding trends.

Compensation & Benefits

The starting salary range for this position is $80,000-90,000. Placement within this band will be determined based on years of prior experience and relevant skills. Galvanize USA also offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes 100% employer-paid health, dental, and vision insurance for employees (and their families). Employees are able to enroll in the 401k retirement plan and are eligible for a 3% automatic contribution and up to a 3% employer match on 401k contributions. Employees are also eligible for pre-tax transportation benefits. Employees will receive 120 hours of vacation time, 80 hours of health leave, up to 2 days of casual leave, and 20 hours of volunteer leave annually. Employees will also receive 13 paid holidays throughout the calendar year. Employees are eligible for 12 weeks of paid family and medical leave after 90 days of employment.
